The Importance of Being Pros

What separates the Pros from the "Pros"? What I mean by that is that sometimes the two words, "professional" and "professionalism" are intertwined when they should not be.

Profession: of, relating to, or characteristic of a profession; participating for gain or livelihood in an activity or field of endeavor often engaged in by amateurs

Professionalism: the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person

Many sports figures are professionals in that they play a sport for their livelihood. However, there are a few that fail to exhibit professionalism, meaning that they do not act accordingly based on the morals and conduct set forth by not only the sport, but also society.

I've always believed in fun at the workplace because it shows the level of enjoyment for what you do. Some (as in several well known USA sports figures) carry it too far and make a mockery of their profession. Others are much too restrained and therefore take all the fun out of life. True pros know how to blend the two together to make it fun for themselves and their audience.

I try to take that into account in the SEO content that I write. I want to make it fun and challenging for myself as well as others. I want to be a professional in what I do but let professionalism reflect in what I create. Much of the content I write reflects my personality and eccentricities but are rooted in a professional approach.

I think that's important no matter what one does...
