On our sites we use what we call a page curl, for example Click Here for a site that I completed today. In the upper right hand corner is a flash object that make the site look as if it was being folded to expose another page behind it. We use this to attract the potential client to a click on this link that will link that visitor to a contact page so they can fill out a form and send that to the owner. This is personally makes the site look bad for your normal everyday business, but with the work at home market it is great because it is new, and flashy. There are so many "start making money today" businesses out there that it is hard to be unique, thats why we give our Home based Business clients.
Ok this blog is going to be alittle off topic for the typical talking about how to do seo and stuff like that. But anyways, I have been building, more like fighting, with a site, rankonthefirstpage.com, all day not because I was trying to get the content right or anything like that. No, my problem was all three major browsers, FireFox, Safari, and IE. Not one of these read the css or the html the same way, why can't all three developers of these browsers get together and make there browsers read alike? The only way I was able to make the sites look good on IE was by creating a script that read two different style sheets. Thus IE and FireFox were covered, but when I went to Safari the link bar at the top was all messed up, so I had to compensate between FireFox and Safari to make both sites look good. Well I just have to say, since there are standards thats designers have to follow when writing code then, the same thing should apply to the way the code is read. See this would make the lives of all web designers a whole lot easier.
When we are designing an SEO site we have to take into account of the clients original web site's design. We have to make our SEO site look as close to if not exactly like the clients original. However if the site is poorly designed then we go ahead and make an all new site that is 10X's better then the client's. For example of a site that needs to look like the original is, http://realestatepriorityone.net/.
What constitutes good keywords? Well it all depends on how much time, effort and money that you are wanting to put in to the web site. For example, if you use a keyword like get rich, it is used so many times that it could take months and months to place it on the first page of search engines. On the other hand, if you use a more localized keyword it can take almost no time to place it on the 1st page of a search engines. Thus using a more localized key words then you will have higher rankings.
A lot of us that write blogs think that these are just a waste of our time taken away from writing content for the site that we are currently working on. However there is a very good reason for these. Writing a blog and having it link to one of the sites we created like http://cashingin4successsite.com/ to help boost it's ranks. This is done by just linking the blog to the site. It gives the site more "creditability" to the search engine, thus better ranks.
What is the purpose of reworking an account? Well a good reason to rework a client site is because the search engines change the way they look at sites. If the search engine changes there methods of indexing sites then most of the site that are completed will not be compliant with the new methods. However there maybe some that do. If you don't change the content around then they will lose there placement on the search engines due to the change.
There is another reason for reworking the content of a site and that is, old content. If the spider crawls a site and indexes it and after a few times it crawls the same content is there it will lose its rankings. This because the search engine will see the site is not being update and thus less important so it will lose its ranks. So in closing if you want good rankings update your sites content often to keep up with the search engine's spider or keep the search engine from getting "bored" with the site.
Key words are what people search for in search engines. To get a site ranked on a search engine they need to tell the search engines what key words are used on the site so the search engine knows what to look for during a search. However just having key words in the meta doesn't mean you will get ranked thats where key word penetration comes in to play. Key word penetration is the amount of times a key word is used in the content of a site. Basically if you wasn't a site ranked high on search engines then you will need to repeat the keywords in the text many times. A site that I completed is a good example, http://g0-acesite.com. The target key word penetration for a site is 2%. This means for every 100 words in a site a single keyword must be repeated 2 times.
Splash pages are a one page web build that is extremely simple just a header, a link and some content that is relative to the seo site. The seo site is linked to the splash and the splash is linked to the original. The reason for the splash is because the original is badly seo'ed that it will kill the rankings for the seo site. So the splash site is placed in there as a shield to protect the seo site and allow it to have good rankings, without getting effected by the original. For and example of a SEO site click here http://herbalsite.info/ and the splash that protects it is http://herbalsite.net.
When optimizing a page, the basic first step is to know what to optimize for – that is, what words or phrases you want to have a high ranking for.
It is usually a good idea for each individual page of your website to be primarily optimized around a single phrase. That’s certainly not to say that you shouldn’t use other keyphrases as well, but giving one of them priority is a wise strategy.
The main goal of this strategy, of course, is to be number the number one listing (or at least on the first page) in Google, Yahoo, and/or MSN when internet users type your phrase into the search box.
That’s why your primary phrase should be something that people are likely to type into a search engine, and it should also be descriptive of your page’s content.
Smaller websites will generally see better results when their pages are optimized for more specific “niche” terms, rather than highly competitive terms that lots of people are trying to rank for. That’s why it can be much more effective to choose a creative two to five word keyphrase rather than a single keyword with a lot of competition, such as “travel” or “finance”.
Content weighs heavily and is considered one of the primary areas of search engine optimization and marketing, hence the expression, Content is King.
Your content should be written in a way that grabs the users attention, while utilizing your targeted keywords and keyword phrases. There is a method to placement of the keywords and keyword phrases that will help your web site gain better placement in the search engines. Balance is essential and creating that balance takes knowledge and experience.
You should make it your goal to add at least one new page of content daily if possible. If not, then once a week is acceptable. You want to keep your website content fresh and give your visitors something to come back for on their next visit. Stale website content may not perform as well as fresh website content.
